Kim Dyes Yarn

Got a skein of aran and bulky in the "Birthday Sprinkles" colorway from Kim Dyes Yarn. The bulky is a Trainspotted Too Hat:

The aran will be a modified Peace Cowl. I'm trying out Chiagoo Lace needles; I really like them.

Yay, new yarn to try!

Advent Calendar Scarf 2013 - Day 10

This is a tough one to photograph:

It's really interesting; it would make a cool summer coverup or market bag. I need to try it in cotton.

Advent Calendar Scarves

The blue one is 2014. I've managed to misplace the beads and the rest of the yarn.

I hope the red one is 2013... because at least I have all the yarn for it!

I think I started this in 2014?

I think I started this in 2014?

Should finish it this week. It's a Concentric Cables cowl in CEY Chalet (or Chateau?).

More weaving....

I've finished all the woven squares for my scarf or cowl. Every square had at least 4 ends to weave in. I managed to weave in all the things today.

I have a skein of Shalimar Breathless in "Land! Katie Scarlett". I'll be edging all the squares with that (hello, G hook!) then  stitching the squares together.

I have 22 squares, all told. I'm not sure if it's going to be an 11x2-square long scarf or a 7x3-square long cowl and a coaster.

I'm leaning towards the cowl, we'll see!

So I finished a third Emergency Hat...

So I finished a third Emergency Hat... but since I did it with Aran/chunky on size 11 needles, it's really only going to be a cowl. Managed to match the color changes on the icord in the front, too!

Also? I won an epic game of yarn chicken.

Willpower fail

!!The plan: do not buy any Ancient Arts yarn (the Stacked Stitch Shawl Kit I got last week doesn't count).

That failed, and I'm making another Emergency Hat.

Oops.

Edited to add later: Oh look it's finished!!

And the seam is pretty darned invisible, too!

So now I need another project...

Emergency Hat!

Started yesterday, finished today. 2 balls Camelot (Classic Elite Yarns) in the St. Stephen colorway. Size 9 needles; this meant only 15 pattern repeats total, instead of 20. 4-stitch icord for the cord.

Top: as hat!
Bottom: as cowl!!

Halfway there....

I think I'm over the halfway mark on Red Skies at night:

Love the way it looks, have yet to get through either of the transition rows smoothly.

Saturday Night

Knitting & NASCAR. A nice way to end the summer.

Things started...

Another entrelac hat. The stockinette beanie was not working, so I unraveled it.

A Red Skies at Night scarf from my ball of Island Yarn Rivulet in Huntsman:

Things finished:

Yeah.

Take 2!

It's time for Skacel's/Knit Purl Hunter's Scoreboard KAL! This year, there's a play-by-play version, which should be MUCH shorter.

I'm planning to do a play-by-play version as follows:

TD: 2 rows seed stitch
Extra point: knit row
Field goal: purl row
Safety: k2p2row

Also? My "this year" scarf will actually be LAST season.

You know - the one where my Broncos won Super Bowl 50 ;)

Kerchief is done!

Headscarf kerchief-thingy is done! One skein of Cascade Tangier and size 8 needles, made it up as I went.

Kerchief!

It's too warm for hats now, but I still want to not deal with my hair sometimes. So, as there was a single skein of Tangier in the all-the-colors colorway, I started to knit one:

I think I'm past the halfway point now. We'll see.

I should sleep now....

Baker St Scarf - blocked!

Here's the blocked Baker Street Scarf. Looks much better now, go figure!

Now I need to get hopping on the next store model!

Scarf Blocking

Just have two blocking squares to work with? Use both sides!

Elegant? Maybe not. But it works!

(Hopefully, the scarf will finally be dry tomorrow!)

Baker Street Scarf

This is a free pattern on Knitty.com. It's a simple two-row repeat. I used two skeins of HiKoo Simplinatural.

I wound off the yarn for the fringe first, then knit until I was out of red, switched to gold and knit the gold.

The fringe is hooked on individually, then knotted in clumps of two or three.

I have very little yarn left:

It curls something fierce right now, but I'm hoping blocking will take care of that. If it was mine, I'd call it done, but it's a shop model. So, blocking will happen.

Finished objects!

Finished my Virus Shawl during the first quarter of the SuperBowl. 2 skeins Red Heart Boutique and a J hook.

Finished my Scoodie (Scoodie Workshop was also on Sunday) yesterday. Berocco Marmot, 4 balls (although half the black one is still with us) and a K hook; H for the ears.

Fox Paws

So, there's Xandy Peter's "Fox Paws". (Ravelry link)

It's not easy. Counting pretty much every  stitch every other row is critical. Frogging is a bear. After the first two days, I finished one pattern repeat:

Two days later, I'm here:

That's halfway through a pattern repeat. The SECOND pattern repeat. The odds of getting through a pattern row at work are bad. The odds of getting through rows 4, 6 or 8 on the first try are improving, but still not good.

Stephanie Pearl McPhee explains it best: "I think I know now what Fox Paws wants. It wants to be alone with me. With just a cup of tea, and no distractions, and nothing that could interrupt our time together. It wants me to say “SSSSHHHHHH!!!!!!!” to any member of my family that tries to screw me up by saying really inconsiderate things, like “Hi”.  It doesn’t like the TV. It’s not sure about Audiobooks. It doesn’t care for the cat." (read her whole post here)

Fox Paws: one of the "most intense" patterns on Ravelry for a REASON.

July finishes (so far).

I have got to get better about updating... but hey, at least I've been knitting!! July has been a good month for finishing things started long ago!! My 2011 Advent Calendar Scarf. I only did days 1-12, as that gave me a shawl at the size I was knitting! My Tee for Two. Changed it up so it has short sleeves instead of cap sleeves. A store model for some yarn arriving next month. (From which I will be making something else for myself.) And a ridiculously cute photo of a long-finished kerchief, which, as it turns out, it just the right size to be a shawl for a 15-month-old.
