Nascent Blanket

I'm (finally) doing Woolly Thoughts "A New Angle" blanket! It's my .... Arithmancy OWL? I think it's Arithmancy.

Anyway, 35  12"x12" blocks out of chunky yarn, plus a border. It's going to be huge!

Aleda KAL - done!

Kelbourne Woolens did a Knitalong for the "Aleda" shawl that's in one of their books. I had one ball of TurtleMade Sparkle Sock from the Shenandoah Fiber Fest last fall, and it was a win!

I cast on May 1, and zoomed along until Thursday night.

Yep. Ran out of yarn with half a row and the bind off to go. (This is definitely a case of "losing a game of yarn chicken".)

Luckily, I picked up a nearly-the-same-green sparkly lace weight at Uniquities during this April's Metro Yarn Crawl.

It worked! It's blocking now, and the pattern is fun enough that I plan to start another June 1!

Felt-Splicing Skeino

So since vacation last week, I've somehow lost a day. Or six. Anyway, yesterday a Skeino Arabella Shawl Kit happened.

Being me, I decided to splice the whole thing into a ball.

Carefully separate single ply into two for about two to three inches. Put the joins so they fully intersect and soak in water for a second:

Then, use friction between your pans to hear it up and felt it solid. (It's done when the water is gone.)

Then continue...

... and continue...

... and continue.

Here's the full color run and label info:

Left to right, winter gray thru spring greens into summer golds and then the reds and browns of autumn!

I'm going to make a Fall of Leaves cloak, if I can!

Socks happened!

Took Laura's Toe Up Socks that Fit class. It resulted in a quick pair of socks:

The foot part fits excellently. They're a wee bit loose at the ankle (my ankles are still oddly skinny), but easy enough to correct on the second pair!

(Yep, I will get four socks out of one ball of Lang Jawoll Aktion.)

OWL approved!

Forgot to do a swatch for my OWL (oops.) Zipped one up today:

... and was approved within a few hours, hooray!

Got some of the yarn wound, hope to get underway on Monday.

Tomorrow is Sheep & Wool. I'll be running a #virtualMDSW on Instagram & Twitter  if I get decent reception!

A Spot of Tea

I've had this little Dragon Dreams "Spot of Tea" chart for ages, and HPKHCH Quidditch warm-ups this term gave me a reason to get it finished! Hooray!

May the Fourth

Yes, it's the fifth, but there were several May the Fourth pics going around yesterday that I want to be able to find next year:

You're welcome.

Four repeats of ten in the main body of Aleda:

And I need to search for my OWL. Sigh.

New Term has Begun

A new term started today for the Harry Potter Knit & Crochet House Cup. I've already managed to turn in a class:

Magical Literature - make something with a heart or hearts:

Started another class:

It's the Adela Knitalong run by Kelbourne Woolens, in some TurtleMade Sparkle Soxk, color 341. It's for DADA (use sparkly yarn).

I turned in my OWL proposal. It's Arithmancy, and I'm FINALLY going to make Wolly Thoughts "A New Angle". I even found all the yarn!

Plus, I got my first badge for turning in my OWL proposal, then turning in a class before my OWL was approved:

So, off to a good start! Quidditch warm ups are this week, BROOMS next week... oh boy...!
