I think I started this in 2014?

I think I started this in 2014?

Should finish it this week. It's a Concentric Cables cowl in CEY Chalet (or Chateau?).

Virus Poncho Class

Took a Virus Poncho class with Rhonda today. Here's her almost-finished one:

Here's the yarn for mine:

It's a sport weight bouclé that I though I could use an L hook on - nope. Had to go down to a G. Hadn't even finished one repeat by the time class ended, but I can already tell it's gonna be gorgeous!

To the frog pond!!

So, at some point during the last decade (but possibly earlier; it's not on this blog or Rav that I can find), I started a shawl.

I think it's Berroco sock yarn of some sort?

Anyway, I picked it up again last week, and I did a few more rows. No pattern, or, rather, it's one I made up.

I took a good look at it today.

The stripes of it completely obscure the lace pattern. That's a problem.

It's also over six feet long, which is ridiculous - because blocking will put at LEAST another foot on it.

So I frogged it. One more UFO, done!

Westknits MKAL "Building Blocks"

First, the don't click if you don't want spoilers photo:

ok, now actual photos. I've done the II-cord for section 3, hopefully will find time to finish that today.

Really liking my colors. And yes, I realize I liked the same colors in my color affection!

198 yds Times Two

So, I finished the shop model, and it looks great:

Then, I knit a modified one out of my first knittable quantity of handspun:

I have my own ball of Alumco now. Trying to decide if I want to knit a third one this week...!

198 yds - Day 3

Should finish chart one tonight. Woot!

198 yds of Heaven

... or, in this case, 215 yds of Araucanía Alumco. My ravellenics2016 entry for Shawl Sailing and a one-skein laurel.

Just 20 rows from the edging, and it goes quickly because it's meant to be small!

Catching up!

Okay, here are a few of the things that happened in July:

Crocheted starfish for our Coral Reef Beach window display

A Danger Crafts tweeter

A tiny Cowichan-style sweater from a class with Beth Brown Reisel

Another Virus Shawl (more on that later in the week)

Tex-Mex food & Pokémon GO

And the discovery of Star Wars jewelry at Kay's. (No, I don't have any. Yet.)

I started more projects, too, of course.

More on that later, as well.

Color Affection progress

There is some progress. I thought I was about 10 stripes from the end.

It's more like 30. A whole lot of garter stitch to go.

Aleda KAL - done!

Kelbourne Woolens did a Knitalong for the "Aleda" shawl that's in one of their books. I had one ball of TurtleMade Sparkle Sock from the Shenandoah Fiber Fest last fall, and it was a win!

I cast on May 1, and zoomed along until Thursday night.

Yep. Ran out of yarn with half a row and the bind off to go. (This is definitely a case of "losing a game of yarn chicken".)

Luckily, I picked up a nearly-the-same-green sparkly lace weight at Uniquities during this April's Metro Yarn Crawl.

It worked! It's blocking now, and the pattern is fun enough that I plan to start another June 1!

Progress?

More stuff knitting...

Four repeats of ten in the main body of Aleda:

And I need to search for my OWL. Sigh.

Hitchhiker, finally!

Last week, as I was reorganizing the house, I found a skein of Island Yarns Rivulet in the "Cosmos" colorway. It was even wound and in a yarn cozy(!).

I vaguely recalled wanting it for a particular pattern. Couldn't remember what, though, so I cast on Hitchhiker instead.

I carried around. It got to go to a fancy restaurant downtown and all over.

By Monday, I was done, and I had this much yarn left:

Yeah. Could not have called it closer. Here it is yesterday, basking in the warmth of the kitchen vent:

26 teeth in all, instead of the 42 of a true hitchhiker. I love the way it worked up, though!!

Simone's Wedding Shawl InstaKAL

So, OwlCat Designs is hosting a KAL for her design "Simone's Wedding Shawl" on Instagram. Today will be Day 3, so you can still play along!

Search Instagram for either @OwlCatDesigns or #SimonesWeddingShawl to get all the instructions.

You need 3 colors of yarn. Mine are MadTosh Light Merino in "Brothers Grimm" (the inky black/green), Wild Hare Fibers Galaxy in "Serenity" (the sparkly red) and Done Roving Frolicking Feet in "Fire &!Ice" (the multi).

Here is my Day 2. The black is my Color A, red is B, and the multi is Color C.

Eagerly awaiting Clue 3!

Totally finished!

Ponchalette, all ends woven in. Woot!

Tuesday, April 19, 2016

Almost done....

Finished the knitting part of that project I found yesterday. Just need to weave in the ends!

Lost project found?

Clearing the back room, I found my cotton Hackebutl - and it had a project inside. No idea where the rest of the yarn for it is, but at least I found it?

(It's going to be a ponchalette someday.)

Harper Shawl update

Got to the halfway point (more or less) of the Harper Shawl today. I decided to stop and weave in all the ends thus far, as there are a LOT of them. If I waited until it was done, it might never happen!
