Kim Dyes Yarn

Got a skein of aran and bulky in the "Birthday Sprinkles" colorway from Kim Dyes Yarn. The bulky is a Trainspotted Too Hat:

The aran will be a modified Peace Cowl. I'm trying out Chiagoo Lace needles; I really like them.

Advent Calendar Scarves

The blue one is 2014. I've managed to misplace the beads and the rest of the yarn.

I hope the red one is 2013... because at least I have all the yarn for it!

To the frog pond!!

So, at some point during the last decade (but possibly earlier; it's not on this blog or Rav that I can find), I started a shawl.

I think it's Berroco sock yarn of some sort?

Anyway, I picked it up again last week, and I did a few more rows. No pattern, or, rather, it's one I made up.

I took a good look at it today.

The stripes of it completely obscure the lace pattern. That's a problem.

It's also over six feet long, which is ridiculous - because blocking will put at LEAST another foot on it.

So I frogged it. One more UFO, done!

Willpower fail

!!The plan: do not buy any Ancient Arts yarn (the Stacked Stitch Shawl Kit I got last week doesn't count).

That failed, and I'm making another Emergency Hat.

Oops.

Edited to add later: Oh look it's finished!!

And the seam is pretty darned invisible, too!

So now I need another project...

Mizzle

In the interests of having at least one store model for a yarn I hope to carry, I hauled my Wild Hare Fibers project out. It's "Mizzle", free on Rav, and the body is out of the cool glows-under-blacklight yarn. (The bottom will be just plain black.)

Just did the final increase to 607 sts/row.

Halfway there....

I think I'm over the halfway mark on Red Skies at night:

Love the way it looks, have yet to get through either of the transition rows smoothly.

New Term Begins

I have absolutely no idea what year I am I  HPKCHC - M4, possibly, or B7? No clue.

The manor system is still operative in the Snake Pit. I'm assigned to Cerberus Manor this term. Abycat & Cattiekins & MrsMouse are there (that I noticed in a quick glance). As usual, the Common Room filled up so quickly I'll never catch up! 

We'll be doing a Detention Whoompf on September 1, so I'm scrambling to get my entrelac hat almost finished so I can finish it Thursday morning. It just needs the corrugated ribbing!

There is some progress. I thought I was about 10 stripes from the end.

It's more like 30. A whole lot of garter stitch to go.

Finally made it to the third color on my Color Affection shawl. Hello, short rows!

Finished the knitting part of that project I found yesterday. Just need to weave in the ends!

Clearing the back room, I found my cotton Hackebutl - and it had a project inside. No idea where the rest of the yarn for it is, but at least I found it?

(It's going to be a ponchalette someday.)

Sprout Sweater

So, I almost finished the Sprout sweater today. Got up to the neck:

Tried it on, and the way the sleeves were done is WONKY. So, I ended up unraveling the entire thing. 

The new sweater is done in one piece, because the whole seaming thing made no sense whatsoever, and the sleeves will be bottom-up for one repeat before the join. That will, hopefully, work better.

Also, the new one will have a color change each vertical repeat, and is more tightly cast on in the first place.

I think I'll be happier with this.
